Extra Curricular Activities Offered at Mission Bay Montessori Academy
Mondays and Thursdays 3:15-4:00 Location: Rm. 5, Elem. side; ages 3-6 Children’s art classes offer a positive and relaxed atmosphere for children of all ages to explore their creativity through various media. Fine Art, After School: Hess Ramplin on Tuesdays 3:30-4:30 Location: Art Room; ages 7-12 Fine Art provides instruction in pastel, watercolor, charcoal, pen & ink, mixed media and more. Mrs. Ramplin’s style of teaching involves a demonstration in every class in “how to” use the media and “how to” draw what the children see. The class develops the student’s art ability and confidence.

Fridays; Art Room/Lunch court 12:00-1:00pm Elem .aged students Chess is open to beginners to advanced students. International master Larry Evans and staff teach throughout San Diego. See website: www.chesscamp.net. The program has produced champions at every level. Dubbed “The Evans Method” by the U.S. Chess Federation includes instruction, formal and casual ply and team events on our giant Harry Potter chess set. Students receive prizes at the end of each class to reward participation and trophies at the end of each session.
Miranda Werner -- Studio of Stars Dance Academy
Wednesdays 3:15-4:00; and 4:15-5:00 for children ages 2-5 years. Location: K-1 classroom The “Little Stars” dance program is a great way for parents to get their children excited about the art of dance! The dance classes are designed using the same principles, techniques, and professionalism found in a dance studio. Ballet and Tap along with other Fun and encouraging dance-related musical games, along with practicing skills in coordination, rhythm, pose, and moreover they will be practicing their skills of becoming a better listener. There is an informal recital at the end of each year, and a growth report and class photo for all families.
Martial Arts for Children:
Thursdays 3:45-4:30 pm., Mondays 3:45 -4:30 for 5+ ages. Location: Black top primary wing; Children 4-5 located on Children’s House playground This “Tang Soo Do Safety” program teaches skills (age appropriate), basic karate techniques, concentration, discipline, and the joy of movement & fitness in a FUN and NURTURING manner.

Playball...Life Skills through Sports; Instructor:
Friday afternoons 3:15 pm to 4:00 pm (3-4, 4-5 year olds) Playground, Preschool and Blacktop, Primary wing In Playball we use the medium of sports to not only improve fine and gross motor development, but also teach basic life skills. At Playball, your child will learn persistence, courage, cooperation, respect, positive relationships, self worth, communication, responsibility and countless other attributes.
Lessons are available on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 on the lower Soccer field for ages 5-12. TGA brings the golf course to you making it convenient. Kid-friendly instructors help children develop golf skills, get active and build self confidence as they advance through a five level program.

Wednesdays 3:15-4:00; Location: Soccer field Soccer Shots is a nationally recognized program that offers a high energy, fun and Age-appropriate introduction to the wonderful game of soccer. Besides soccer gross motor skills and teaching children important concepts such as teamwork, sharing, and respect are emphasized. Spanish Classes for Children…Instructor: Graciela Berumen; classes are for beginners Tuesdays 3:45-4:30 and Intermediate Thursdays 3:45-4:30; all students 4-8 years of age are encouraged to participate;; Location: K-3 Come and learn a second language. A fun program where flash cards, paperwork, and music are blended to provide your child with a basic vocabulary that is easily practiced in day-to-day activities.
By Your Court Tennis
Your Court Tennis puts the "fun" into fundamentals by using games. Keeping the class size small, coaches accelerate the learner. the program teaches student to correctly volley, and hit groundstrokes. Private lesson are also available to MBMA students only.

Woodshop Bus ‘I Can Build it Myself’:
Classes are held in the bus located down below the blacktop, near the soccer field. Ages 6-12 years of age; Wednesdays 3:10-4:10, 4:15-5:15 This is a practical, productive and rewarding class for students who want to create toys and useful desktop projects using basic hand tools. Students saw wood clamped into a miter box, shape and sand it, drill holes, turn screws and drive nails to make their projects, so they need to come ready to work
