Programs

At MBMA, our approach to curriculum is built upon the Montessori philosophy. Our goal is to help children realize their full potential. Children learn to make connections among the various areas of study and are encouraged to learn at their own pace with attention to their individual interests.  Our experienced and caring teachers guide the learning process for each child on an individual basis recognizing that each one is unique. Small classes with a mixed age group promote the Montessori ideals of independence and cooperation.

Our education is a balance of challenging academics complimented by activities which promote responsibility, positive self-image, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.

“La Casita” means “little house”, and that is exactly how we want the children to feel when they are with us. We maintain a ratio of 8 students to 1 teacher in this room. The child may enter the room in pull-ups and we will assist in toilet learning until the child shows the independence needed for our Preschool, Children’s House, and classrooms. There will not be set transition times during the year, but instead will depend on the readiness of the child as determined by teachers, families, and administration.

Children’s House consists of our Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten programs. After years of observing young children, Dr. Maria Montessori founded a method of education that continues to be a proven success throughout the world. Montessori’s individualized instruction focuses on preparing the environment with a wide range of materials that attract the child’s interest and presents concepts in a carefully sequenced order.

As our students progress through the primary levels (kindergarten and 1st grade) to the upper elementary levels (2nd through 6th grade), critical thinking, responsibility, independence, task completion, and time management become central tenets. We promote an atmosphere of cooperation, rather than competition, to develop positive student self-image and confidence. Self-direction, social awareness, and positive healthy attitudes towards learning are our cornerstones.
